St Johnstone have announced the signing of former Irish international goalkeeper, Stephen O'Donnell, in a bid to strengthen their competition for position. The 29-year-old has previously played for clubs including Bursaspor in Turkey and Hibernian in Scotland.

O'Donnell made his international debut for Ireland in 2014 and went on to play for the country's under-21 team before making his senior debut in 2016. He was also part of the squad that reached the semi-finals of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship in 2015.

The signing of O'Donnell is seen as a significant boost for St Johnstone, who currently sit in 18th place in the Scottish Premiership. With the likes of Craig Gordon and Ross McCrorie already established at the club, O'Donnell will be looking to compete for regular playing time.

"Stephen is a fantastic addition to our squad," said St Johnstone manager, Derek McInnes. "He brings experience and quality to our goalkeeping department and we're excited to see what he can do for us this season."

O'Donnell himself expressed his excitement about joining the club. "I'm really happy to be here at St Johnstone," he said. "I've heard great things about the club and the fans, so I'm looking forward to getting started and helping the team achieve success."

With O'Donnell now added to the St Johnstone squad, the club will look to continue its upward trajectory and challenge for promotion from the Scottish Premiership. The goalkeeper will be keen to show his mettle in the league and help the club reach the heights it deserves.
